Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2040, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2016

Clear and smoky on the nose, with stone meal and citrus/grapefruit flavors, the 2014 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Auslese (AP #17) is sweet and piquant on the palate, as well as nicely salty in the finish. There is still a lot of CO2 in the wine, but the mineral grip in the finish reveals its true character. There is very good phenolic structure, which results in a good grip.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2040, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Sep 2015

While briefly a bit shrouded by fermentative aromas, this clears to reveal honeysuckle, apple jelly and candied lemon peel, all of which follow on an expansive, lush yet buoyant palate, but with a juicy fresh apple and lemon adjunct. Transparent to wet stone and stimulatingly tinged with seeds and pits, it finishes with ravishing persistence, if not quite the energy, let alone brightness, of the corresponding Bernkasteler.
