Note di degustazione
Sweet ripe hedgerow berries dominate the nose and move onto the palate too. There are an abundance of cherries and blackcurrants, the tannins are firm and this has real length. Definitely one for lamb, this is definitely what I was looking for from these reds.

The 2005 G.V.B. (red blend) is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc raised in new French oak for 24 months. It has an attractive bouquet of blackberry, cranberry, sage and roasted chestnut, a bit of Old World lashed to a bit of New. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, rustic black fruit laced with tobacco and sage notes with a very refined finish. This is an astutely crafted wine. Drink now-2017. Vergelegen is one of South Africa's most reputed wineries and Andres van Rensberg one of its most opinionated and indeed, talented, winemaker. These are powerful South African wines packed full of flavor, but do not ignore some of the excellent whites that can get overlooked by the flagship labels.
