Note di degustazione
Relatively pale appearance does not give away age, an old trick of Joan Collins, who never ventured into the sunlight. There's also a tasteful touch of graceful maturity (Edelfirne, as it is known in German), a dab of diesel applied in the most attractive manner. Any fears of decline are banished by an entente cordiale between refreshing acidity and zesty fruit. Matured to perfection, elegant, complex, subtle and very, very long. On 14 Sep 2002 Jancis scored this with 18, a baby with potential. 19 now, because that potential has been fulfilled. (MS)

Very pale. Complex not entirely technical nose. Much sweeter tasting than the 2002. Still youthful and with a little perceptible sulphur. I'd wait a while. Glucose and candy. (JR)
Aromatically demure, the 2001 Riesling Spatlese Kiedrich Grafenberg has huge richness, breadth, and depth. Candied minerals, stones, and pears can be found in its concentrated core of fruit. Cellaring will be required for this wine's full potential to blossom. Projected maturity: 2008-2018. Importer: A Rudi Wiest Selection, Cellar International, Inc., Carlsbad, CA; tel. (760) 753-4244
Open, white pepper nose. Great aromatic purity on the palate. Lovely balance. Very good wine though a difficult one to place in a meal. (JR)
